Governor Appoints Pearce to Workforce Investment Board
JEFFERSON CITY—Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, has announced Gov. Matt Blunt’s appointment of Rep. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, to the prestigious Missouri Workforce Investment Board.
“David Pearce brought much to the House after he was elected in 2002”, Jetton said. “Rep. Pearce was appointed to serve as vice chair and member to my Special House Committee on Job Creation and Economic Development, and he has the experience necessary to be a valuable contributor to the Missouri Workforce Investment Board.”
In its advisory role to the state, the board promotes increased employment, retention and earnings as well as enhanced occupational skills to improve the quality of the workforce and reduction of welfare dependency. A high quality workforce increases productivity and helps Missouri attract more high-paying jobs.
“Unemployment serves no one. It fractures the family unit and drains our economy through loss of revenues,” Pearce said. “With this board appointment, I look forward to lending my support at both state and local levels to grow our economy through job stimulation opportunities to keep Missourians working at better paying jobs.”
Gov. Blunt appointed two state representatives to the board, with Rep. Tim Flook of Liberty serving alongside Pearce. In addition to the governor and the representatives, the board is comprised of two state senators, business owners, labor representatives and state agency officials.
Pearce is a candidate for Senate in Missouri’s 31st District, which includes Bates, Cass, Johnson and Vernon counties.
